Why Outlander?

I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Beth Schreibman Gehring and I'm an obsessive blogger with a passion all things Celtic.  Like so many of you, I have had such a love affair with the Outlander series.  My sister -in- law handed me  the book Dragonfly and Amber almost 20 years ago and since then I haven't been able to get myself out of Diana Gabaldons exquisitely romantic world.  So after much poking and prodding from my husband, I have decided to come out of the closet and finally admit to the world  that I am Outlander addicted and have a bit of fun with it.

I check for the daily lines sometimes three and four times a day and look at all of the other wonderful Outlander blogs for their wonderful stories and for glimpses of new pictures from the upcoming series. I truly don't know whether or not the world will welcome another  Jamie and Claire worshipping blog, but I'm going to shut my eyes, take a deep breath and hope for the best!

So why Outlander?  Since the first time that I ever found myself lost in that remarkable world I've been madly in love with it. One of the things that  I've discovered that those of us who love this  incredible series have in common is a deep love of history, beauty and the desire to create for ourselves an emotionally rich , self-expressed and creative life. Milady's Pantry & Still Room was born out of that deeply held desire  and my own personal visions of an 18th Century Life as Inspired by the entire series.  Here you will find recipes, musings and suggestions for lotions, potions, soothing herbals, healing elixirs , perfumery, florals, delicious comestibles and even some tinctures and liniments for Jamie's horses!

In my real time world I'm an Equestrian, Herbalist, Aromatherapist, Certified Health Coach and an out of the closet White Witch. I'm devoted to my kitchen , my horses, The Cleveland Orchestra and I'm a member of The Western Reserve Herb Society, where more often than not you'll find me in the herb gardens at the Cleveland Botanical Gardens ; more specifically the ancient dye plant garden speaking lovingly to the Hawthorn hedge that’s in my care. I love to create bespoke potions , healing elixirs, jams, sugars, blends and tinctures filled with my own herbs and flowers, skin care products and perfumes as well as selling one of a kind vintage accessories and home goods.

I married my own Jamie Fraser over 31 years ago and I consider myself one of the luckiest woman in the world. After him, everything else in my life is just the best frosting on the cake.

I'm truly looking forward to meeting all of you and sharing all of the thrills that await us in the coming year!
